Kenana Knitters is located on Kenana Farm, just a short stroll from Kembu Cottages & Campsite. Kenana Knitters is a women's co-operative, founded by Patricia Nightingale as an income earning opportunity to empower rural Kenyan women. Kenana Knitters provides local women the chance to take charge of their lives and work in a dignified, safe, family-friendly environment. It hopes to share their stories through their handiwork of unique, hand-knitted creations.

Today, Kenana Knitters work with and pay fair wages to over 500 knitters and spinners. They export a collection of plush toys, home decor, clothing and accessories to more than 10 countries around the world. Kembu guests are invited to visit the workshop, interact with the knitters and their children and watch their handiwork in action. While you're there, visit the warm and friendly retail store adjacent to the workshop. By purchasing a Kenana Knitters product, you contribute directly to the pride and advancement of the individual women and their families, as well as impacting the local community.
